In Closing...

So, as the focus turns full-time to the mini-site that is Non-Geeky Nerd, we'll close this out with an update. Changed stores just over a year ago or so. It was to the store that I really liked, but felt was lagging in the customer service department. I must note, that ever since coming to the store on a more full-time basis, the service has been impeccable, and would have noted on it if I hadn't forgotten about the posting from I think 2-3 years ago aha.

There are even times when I come in that I don't even need to say anything and my issues are laid out for me to look over, and decide on if I want to purchase them. During DC Comics 3-D Cover debacle, I was one of the lucky ones who landed all but one of the covers, to which later when they were reloaded, was up to me on whether or not I wanted one.

I should also note that I had major dental work done, and would come in on Wednesdays unable to say anything but grunts and hand gestures. Other places, including the store to which I previously had as my regular shop, would've made snide remarks beneath humor or run to the back to laugh. I was treated with a smile and respect.

Okay, back to Non-Geeky Nerd!

Stay Nerdy!

STAN'S THE MAN, BUT WEST IS BEST
Okay, slightly misleading title, as they are different people who have different connections to the comic book and film industries, and of course the obvious Marvel Vs DC part of things. Stan Lee creator of Spider-Man and other Marvel icons, Adam West forever known as Bruce Wayne/Batman in the campy hit series "Batman" back in the 1960's. Perhaps it makes more sense to have Stan make cameos in the films of characters he's been known to have created or worked on, as they are in some cases his "babies". And if he were still alive today, would be nice to think that Batman creator Bob Kane would have gone the same route and made small appearances within Nolan's trilogy (although likely not as comedic as Stan's spots have been)...(READ MORE)

CM PUNK COMING BACK?
It is professional wrestling, so nothing is too far fetched, and unless they work amongst those "in the know" nobody can say, "that isn't going to happen" or "that will never happen". Some fans are open-mined enough to at least think about the match or scenario someone has laid out for them. Others are a tad bit close-minded and most times can't even accept what they are watching let alone an alternate theory or possibility. And of course there are those still stuck in a specific era of wrestling (from classic, to the 80's and the Attitude Era), however much like the people who don't even watch, their opinions are generally worth less than the Canadian penny. With the age we live in, and the WWE being more tapped into the fans via Twitter and Facebook, it is harder than ever to tell what is a work and what is a shoot. The saying goes that everything related to wrestling is...(READ MORE)

THE FLASH: FIRST FULL LOOK AT THE SUIT-UPDATED!!!
UPDATE:
Here are some more pictures of Grant Gustin sporting his new Flash duds. Doesn't look too bad, wasn't sure how it would look within a daytime setting, which is really more Flash's motif so although night time is preferred to keep with the tone of "Arrow", it is nice to see that the darker suit keeps looking as good as it did in the initial promotional shots...(READ MORE)

NEUMAN GETS MAD TREATMENT FOR UPCOMING BIRTHDAY
You may not have ever read an issue of MAD Magazine, but there is an extremely high chance you know who he is, even if just by face recognition. It is soon to be MAD Magazine "mascot" Alfred E. Neuman's birthday, and DC Comics is showing their love by providing Neuman variant covers featuring the MAD man on a few of their monthly titles. With an April Fool's birthday, comes spoofed out covers with Alfred keeping with his traditional comedic ways while "dressing up" as comic book characters. Unlike last year, where Alfred E. Neuman played the parts of various heroes upon the covers, this year Alfred...(READ MORE)
THE FLASH: FIRST FULL LOOK AT THE SUIT
Not long ago we were given a small taste of how the scarlet speedster would look in his upcoming spin-off television series. All we were given was an almost basic head shot of Grant Gustin's version of The Flash. While some fans liked it, others hated it, almost all of them were drawing comparisons to not only the 1990's television series version, but also to the competition with references to Captain America and Tick being made...(READ MORE)

STRAP OF CHOICE
Unlike the WWE World Championship title belt, the WWE Championship has had its share of evolutions over the years. From the classic style that mirrored what Boxing still uses today, to the Attitude Era styles, to the current rendition, which is one half of the WWE World Heavyweight Championship (World title being the other).
Since the 1980's there have been roughly seven or so different WWE Championship belts, where the World title has basically stayed the same with the exception of the n.W.o. days, where the groups initials were spray painted on the plate (simple, yet awesome if I might add). If they decide to keep the titles unified as the WWE World Heavyweight Championship, curious to see if they keep one of the titles as is, likely the WWE Championship as it is only a year old.
From gold plates, to diamonds, to even snakeskin straps, here are previous versions of the richest prize in Sports Entertainment, here are the WWE Championship belts...(READ MORE)

WHAT ABOUT THE MAN OF STEEL?
Of course everyone's attention has been drawn elsewhere, but everything that is to come began with "Man Of Steel". Which of course, is a Superman movie. With the upcoming 2016 sequel looking more and more like the first installment of a Justice League movie, even with the casting of Lex Luthor we were given Alfred Pennyworth, a key Batman character. Of course, there has been talks and rumors of another villain to the mix, that may help keep this more Superman than Justice League, but even if it does everyone will be wanting to expand the team (if it hasn't already grown for MOS follow-up), drawing even more attention away from Superman.
What direction will they take? Will they keep Superman the focal point of the not only the upcoming movie but the ones that are sure to follow (if successful)? Are they simply using a "Man Of Steel" sequel as a per-cursor to a following but separate "Justice League" movie, leaving comic books original superhero to a film franchise of his own? I like to think that it will be the latter of the two, giving Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman and whomever else they add their own films that all culminate in a Justice League. It is working for Marvel as we all know, and sooner or later they end up "borrowing" from each other creatively, so why not take a sure fire route, given the writing, directing and acting are up to par of course.
Regardless of what direction that they end up taking, there are some Superman characters that have yet to appear within the new universe, that should get a cameo in the very least, if not a starring or supporting role. Some will be making their big-screen debuts, others will be returning to the silver screen partaking in the live action blockbuster(s), here's a list of characters who need to appear in upcoming Superman "Man Of Steel" films...(READ MORE)

IS FOX SITTING ON A MUTANT GOLDMINE?
As much as I love the X-Men, in the movie universes, they are second to the Avengers Universe. Quality (production), promotion and box-office numbers. And that is okay, the lighter Avengers Universe needs a darker contrasting one and that can occur with the X-Men over at FOX. I am looking forward to the upcoming "Days Of Future Past" and it's follow-up "Age Of Apocalypse", but I see them as opportunities to expand their universe with solo and team-up spin-off films. There is even an opportunity to do something similar to what the Avengers Universe is doing in regards to "Age Of Ultron", and hinting at "Infinity Gauntlet". None of the movies about to be listed need to have really big budgets, they need good writing, directing and acting. The CGI or added effects don't need to be over-the-top grande in most of these cases. So if they "failed" they wouldn't take too much of a hit. I think some or most would work out if they had the right pieces in place like mentioned before with acting, etc.
Some are obvious to their fan bases, some are rumored to be almost ready to shoot or have been for years, some are "just my opinion" and one is the next best thing to "X-Men Vs Avengers" or "Infinity Gauntlet". Here's a list of movies FOX should start taking the Marvel Studios route with...(READ MORE)

STYLE SAVANTS ENTRY #1
Just like the stories that give them meaning, the style and look of a character are also ever evolving. Whether it is "keeping with the times" or simply a different artists take on the character, the visuals and a characters costumes can at times tell us things about the person or their part in the story without needing the words to so. From simple things to slightly deeper things, that if not tell us outright, at least have us wondering "why".
For some characters, even a very basic change in their usual color scheme adds almost a new dynamic to them. Haven't read, but I could tell that the black and greys in the more modern X-Force in characters like Wolverine and Deadpool meant it was a stealthy, tactical team aka sneak in and conquer (may be wrong, but feel free to correct me on that in the comments box below, or on the Facebook postings comment box that brought you here. Helps me learn!)
So, decided to try and cover characters that likely have massive wardrobes in their homes to hold all of the different looks that they have had over the years. Instead of just one massive list, figured maybe to do more of a focus on each "Style Savant", for if anything, to show some of their various looks.
The first entry in "Style Savants" is...(READ MORE)

CASTING BATFLECK'S GOTHAM CITY (Ver 1.0)
Likely way too early to really think of most of these, for all we know the number of movies Ben Affleck signed on for may have been only for "Justice League/Man Of Steel" films. The hater could end up being proven right and we witness Batfleck bomb. Don't think that it will, but there is that chance. Also, hard to tell what direction they would take. Batman may be a grizzled vet within the follow-up, but that doesn't necessarily mean that the solo Bat-flicks would show Batman in that light, Affleck could pull off a younger version of the character. But, for this casting we'll assume it is the older Batman with a mix of cast mates that will range in age, new takes on some of these characters could make them work in a setting where they are younger than Batman. I am sure that either there will be references in the follow-up to "Man Of Steel" or possibly even an appearance of a Bat-character that will give us more of a clue, but with 2 years of wait time, things like this are needed to fill the time...(READ MORE)

THE ICEMAN COMETH
We got our first look at the upcoming story based DLC for the video game "Batman: Arkham Origins" today via DC All Access. And as everyone predicted, the story is focused on the frosty member of Batman's rogues gallery, Mr. Freeze.
You can check out the video below, which has the "trailer" as well as a brief discussion on what else we can expect to find in the "Cold, Cold Heart" story based DLC, which is luckily in game, and not just another challenge map like the initial DLC's were. We learn that there will be a new suit for Batman helping him to battle the cryogenic weapons of Freeze and his comrades. As well as some new gadgets.
I am sure there will be on this before it is ready for download on April 22nd, 2014, but until then or until more is revealed, here is the first glance at "Cold, Cold Heart" DLC content coming for "Batman: Arkham Origins"...((READ MORE AND SEE VIDEO)

WHO'S NEXT?
It's happened. The WWE Network has launched. While many of Vince's fellow promoters and businessmen all seem to think this is a bad idea, none of them are willing to bet against Vinnie Mac. I can see how this benefits them from guaranteed PPV views equaling more endorsements and things like that, to collecting a bit off of things we've all watched for free for years now, etc. And even if it fails like the XFL did before, they simply take the hit and go back to being a money making juggernaut. Vince McMahon's greatness lies in his willingness to "try". Even when, sorry, especially when people say it won't work (see inaugural Wrestlemania, amongst other things).
With access to the WWE's libraries as well as all the companies that they've acquired over the years, mixed in with the age that we live in currently and the current success of superstars Goldust and the New Age Outlaws making a resurgence of sorts of the Attitude Era. I am left wondering who could we see in a WWE ring in the future? Whether it be in-ring or or a non-active role. What superstars of yesteryear will begin to make appearance upon the list of what is "trending" a la Twitter, Facebook or some other form of social media? There are plenty out there who can "still go" and simply haven't been back  in WWE for awhile or luckily didn't end up in TNA Wrestling at some point over the years. Of course there are also those who have, but may have been forgotten. If anything perhaps it will help some of them get into the WWE Hall Of Fame and/or sign a Legends contract with the WWE. Some seem to be getting work at the new WWE Performance Center as trainers, etc, even then, it is one step closer to being called back up.
Here's a list of possible stars who we could see again in a more current role in the WWE thanks to the WWE Network launching...(READ MORE)

#22?
The Streak almost cements that Undertaker's status. Not only because of the wins, but because of what it has become. An attraction. A main event attraction. Similar to what the late Andre The Giant was, only the caliber of matches are a thing of beauty. The last few years, the Deadman has gone to extreme lengths to ensure his match would be "Wrestlemania Moment" worthy and a worthy contender for "Match Of The Year" honors.
A lot of people surprisingly want or feel the streak needs to end. I disagree. It is all over what that happens. And with a year to heal and prepare, it should make 23-0 or 25-0 possibly. And the matches keep getting better. If the early matches in the streak were ever remotely good, it was because of the Undertaker. Take a look back, you'll see which opponents would be hard for anyone to work with...(READ MORE)

COMIC BOOK FAMILIES
In Canada it is "Family Day"! Us Canucks don't get how this is a holiday either, but it's a day off, so the people will take it, and most do spend the time with family or close friends. Comic books of course are loaded with families and characters that are related, whether it be by blood or by bond. This includes the talent that bring these characters to life in every panel and page.
With a mixture of both comic book characters, and the people who bring them to life (artists, writers) here is a list of some of the family dynasties within the comic book universes...(READ MORE)
JOURNEY TO GREATNESS
Not to be confused with the WWE's annual "Road To Wrestlemania", which is currently underway. This is about professional wrestlers who have gone through a string of characters before finding "the one". Some entrants on the list are those who had found the perfect character, but then revamped themselves to prolong their careers within the squared-circle. From a simple heel or face turn to a complete over haul, in most cases it was a matter of being allowed to be themselves. With the volume cranked past eleven as they say.
Will try to leave out the wrestlers who had already discovered themselves, but the WWF (WWE) forced a gimmick of sorts on them, but there are some who took their careers to another level with said gimmick...(READ MORE)
FEMALE HALL OF FAMERS
Congrats to Lita on her upcoming induction into the WWE's Hall Of Fame. She'll be joining other female Hall Of Famer's, Trish Stratus, Mae Young, "The Fabulous" Moolah, among a few others. Which is also well deserved, having established her own niche in the history of pro-wrestling being unique from those she was competing with as well as those who came before her. With the list of female wrestlers in the past being quite low, especially in comparison with the guys, it isn't a surprise that the female count within the WWE Hall Of Fame is low. And with the the inductions seemingly creeping into the "Attitude Era" in terms of the inductees (mostly), which is also when there was a real resurgence in the women's division, it isn't odd to wonder who would be next. Also, it would be wrong to wonder who should be in there but curious as to "if" they ever will. They say to never say never in this business, so here's a list of possible future female WWE Hall Of Fame Inductees...(READ MORE)

WHERE'S MY GAME?
With the "Batman: Arkham" series being so successful, it is a wonder why there hasn't been more superhero games, especially DC Comics characters being given their own game. WRESTLERS WHO NEED A #2 COMPANY
Now I am not saying the WWE needs another promotion trying to take them down, but a little competition doesn't hurt. If anything it makes things better on a variety of levels. With one being the talent. In the territory days talent would have a run in one area, then move to another area and have a run there, and then return to the first territory. Some would go to a variety of places, but the reasons were mostly to keep the talent "fresh". There would be times where territories would trade wrestlers with each other to help one another and the talent out. This carried on somewhat when it was down to WWE, WCW and ECW even. Although this time around it was more about stealing talent (which is how WWE choked out the territories). Regardless of "how", the talent was still able to refresh themselves and extend their careers. Examples of this were Hulk Hogan who went over to WCW from WWE, and then was even able to extend his career with the nWo and his Hollywood gimmick...(READ MORE)

Rumors

Making my rounds reading things across the web, some headlines and rumors caught my attention. Now which are 100% truth, and which are completely untrue, we'll never know unless they actually happen, and/or are admitted by legitimate sources. A lot are hard not to believe, even if far from the truth. None the less they are quite interesting.

STING & WWE
Now every year really since Vince McMahon won the Monday Night War, people have been speculating that Sting was going to sign on with the WWE. Especially at this time of year with the "Road To Wrestlemania" and the Hall Of Fame inductions, and The Undertaker's "Streak".
This time around however, there seems to be some valid steam behind the rumors this year. Sting is currently not under contract nor working with TNA Wrestling, and according to the bigger wrestling sites, the deal with WWE is all but finalized.
The ink isn't even on the dotted line yet, but rumors of who, what, when and where are rabidly swirling around, "Will he face Taker at Wrestlmania XXX? Or will it be next year when WM31 is in Sting's hometown of Los Angeles? When is the Hall Of Fame induction? If not Wrestlemania, will it be the next night on Raw?" The list goes on. Regardless, with some actual validity behind this one, personally I cannot wait for Stinger to make a splash in WWE (pun intended).

CM PUNK QUITS WWE
This is even more interesting than the Sting situation. While many say they think that this is true, nobody can give 100% that this isn't some kind of "work". When everything is "analyzed" by at least us "outsiders", everything points to both a legit walk out and a scripted event.
Legit: Drained both mentally and physically from a grueling schedule, mixed with frustrations with "Creative". Needing a break is totally understandable.
Work: With similarities with Stone Cold in the past, this "take your ball and go home" moment is very familiar with what happened with Austin back in the day, where he was just totally burnt out. Absence can also make the heart grow fonder as they say, Punk is already "over", imagine the size of the crowd pop he would get upon a return?
Everyone says we likely haven't seen the last of CM Punk in a WWE ring, but who knows, maybe we have.

NEW WRESTLING PROMOTION
Another rumor making its rounds is that former co-founder of TNA Wrestling, Jeff Jarrett left his "office" job with the company to possibly form a brand new wrestling promotion with country music star, Toby Keith. Jarrett and Keith were apparently close to buying the sinking ship that appears to be TNA, from the Carter's. Supposedly the deal went south when Bob Carter's only stipulation was the Dixie stay on in the same spot (title as well as tv spots), with the same amount of stroke she had when her father owned the company. If that is truly the case, we all should be thankful Jarrett and Keith walked away from what would clearly be a bad business venture.
If Double J and Toby really are bringing us a new promotion, it will be interesting to see for many reasons. Will it be new? Will it just be TNA 2.0? Successful? Can it compete with the WWE? Will they even try too? AJ Styles needs a new home, unless WWE gets smart and gives him a chance. Plus, there's always the question of how long until Jarrett puts the main belt on himself. Half joking on that one. I did enjoy some of his runs as Champ with WCW and TNA.

WHO'S #22?
I've come across rumors stating that WWE was hoping for Brock Lesner Vs Undertaker, but it isn't a lock. John Cena was also another high on the rumor list to be facing the Deadman, but rumors all seem to point to Cena Vs Bray Wyatt at the big show. I haven't come across anything stating so, but remember the last time we saw Undertaker. The red hot Shield took over his yard. Well, fast forward to present day, and we have what looks like a possible if not likely split amongst the talented trio. Why not have that happen at or during the aftermath of becoming victims number 22? With Reigns being over, perhaps Ambrose or Rollins try to steal the glory or turn on Reigns causing the loss, I would go with Rollins with the turn, being played out as the voice of reason at the moment and Ambrose is too obvious....wait...why am I even thinking about this group breaking up? Likely will happen though, the split. Who knows, maybe Punk will come back if given the option to do the honors a second year in a row, if he returns.

Stay Nerdy!

WHAT WAS MISSING FROM BATMAN: ARKHAM ORIGINS

Mind you everything that is listed may be reserved for the next edition of the Arkham video game series, or some of it may even play out some how in the upcoming Story DLC, even though all signs seem to point to when the Ice Man cometh. Still, incase they don't plan on  expanding off of the latest installment,Arkham Origins, taking things back before both Arkham Asylum and Arkham City, then these are the things I felt was missing from this otherwise really good game, not Arkham City good, but held its own none the less.

Catwoman
I thought cats had nine lives, and since she was a great addition to Batman: Arkham City, I figured she still had all nine intact. She is referenced within the game, but only in a conversation by some thugs within the city if my memory serves me correct. With the addition of the next thing missing, makes me think that perhaps there will be another pre-Arkham Aslum/City installment, and it will be a spin on "The Long Halloween" story arc. Which will be awesome. But, really missed being able to play as Mrs. Kyle in game, not just the challenge maps. Something that my daughter definitely missed, and wasn't as interested as she was with Arkham City rounding up 100-200x Combo's ahaha

Harvey Dent aka Two-Face
I thought for sure there would be "Vote For Harvey" or "Vote For Dent" posters all around the place, unscathed unlike in the other games. But there wasn't. And then with a certain Mister Alberto Falcone likely "pre-Holiday" in the mix I thought for sure there would be something. But no. However, like I said I am thinking a "Long Halloween" next time around and we see the Cat, and Harvey in some fashion, possibly already as Two-Face, and add the "star" of "The Long Halloween", and we would have an extra three "Wins" already at least character wise.

The Batmobile
We haven't really seen it since the first installment of this great franchise, Batman: Arkham Asylum. In Arkham Origins, the iconic vehicle is torn down and about to be built for the first time by the looks of it. There was the Batwing, but I was hoping that with the addition of the Batcave (which was a massive plus in my opinion) we'd maybe get to get behind the wheel ourselves so to speak, at least to a certain part on the out skirts, or something. Perhaps if there's a next installment, there will at least be Batmobile "drop-off" points similar to how they did with the Batwing. The streets are pretty narrow, but we've yet to set foot in "new" Gotham really, with "Wayne Enterprises" still off in the distance. I will admit however, that it wouldn't be long after they gave me control of the Batmobile that I would start wanting "skins" for the vehicle, 60's Batmobile that we all know, "Batman (1989)", etc etc ahaha

Deathstroke
Yes I know he is playable in the challenge maps, but being able to play as Catwoman in game spoiled me quick after disappointment with the lack of Mr. J like in the first installment of the hit franchise. I have found playing as him quite the challenge in those maps (hence the name right? aha) mind you, but felt there could've been a way to have him able to roam the city post credits, or exactly like his predscessor, be playable as apart of the story also, perhaps hunting down The Joker post-escape.

The Falcone's and The Maroni's
Alberto Falcone is in the game, and there is reference to his father, Carmine, and others, but there doesn't seem to be any reference of them in the game landscape wise, like there was in Arkham City. With Batman still somewhat "new to the game", and seems to be in the transition from Mobsters to Super-Villains, I thought there would still be at least visual evidence of their existence in the city. But, perhaps they will be a bigger part of the next one, like I mentioned with Catwoman and Two-Face, the Mob-Families are a big part of that story.

Martha and Thomas Wayne
With this being very early in the "career" of Batman, I was very shocked that we were left to either seek out or stumble upon the site that basically created Batman. Wouldn't this still be very much the fire that fuels him? Now, they may have been trying to get away from that, or when you come across it via the direction of the game you'll notice of all Batman's "crime investigations", he's the most aggressive for this one when he finds the criminal. Was it because he knew the victims? Or was where it happened turn up the heat? I actually liked how we could "pay respect" at the site in Arkham City, just thought it would be still there are pointed out at least.

Those were just small things for me, the game was very good. Especially with them having transitioned over to a different studio, and even the voice work was good with characters like Batman and The Joker (No Conroy or Hamel this time around). \Loved the additions of the Batcave, especially with the suit chamber, a flying villain to battle against, the small run as The Red Hood was epic for me, amongst other things. And with some complaining that it was the exact same game, the map yes, although they altered it, made bridges and roads intact, which made sense story wise also, there were new gadgets that made for some pretty cool moves within the game, and we got to see some new Villains and characters. Barbara Gordon clearly pre-Batgirl (if she exists here), Alfred Pennyworth in the flesh and there to chat with when you feel like it, Deathstroke, even a smaller level character like Anarky, who we got to see how he could possibly be a problem for Batman.

I guess "my" next obvious installment under this category would be what I think should be, mixed in with what I think will play out in what I would think, is an obvious follow-up. I would prefer "Batman: Arkham Origins II" over "Batman: The Long Halloween" or "Batman: Arkham Origins: The Long Halloween". Just sayin'.

DC MOVIE UNIVERSE

With the recent announcement (and uproar) of the casting of Jesse Eisenberg as Lex Luthor, and Jeremy Irons as Alfred Pennyworth, the DC Movie Universe has expanded again. Looking at the size of the cast, it is hard to argue with the rumor that the delay in production and pushed back premiere is due to them filming more than one film, however there is the fact that apparently even a small delay of a week or two would push the opening back about 10 months. However, being a fan of how they shot the Lord Of The Rings trilogy, I am hoping there's more than one film being made in succession. Otherwise, there are a lot of stars and a lot of story to cover in a two hour time frame. We shall see.

Superman/Kal El/Clark Kent (Henry Cavill)
Star of the first installment, Cavill dawns the "S" once again. With all the additions, hard not to ask how much of Superman's story will be pushed to the back.

Lois Lane (Amy Adams)
Also returning is Amy Adams as Lois Lane. Like Superman, it will be interesting to see how the other characters being added will not just effect her story, but the story between Lois Lane and Superman/Clark Kent.

Perry White (Laurence Fishburne)
His role in "Man Of Steel" (2013) was smaller, but important to showing the reaction of the city during the attack by Zod and company. I see possibly a smaller role in upcoming movies that are not Superman focused.

Martha Kent (Dianne Lane)
Ma Kent is coming back too. Her role in "Man Of Steel" (2013) was as expected, with Dianne giving a great motherly performance (I liked the scene at school with a little CK). Perhaps we'll see more interaction between her and Lois this time around.

Batman/Bruce Wayne (Ben Affleck)
The casting that caused the worlds largest bowel movement amongst a large section of Bat-Fans not wanting to take the wait and see approach. After all is said and done, one side will be eating words. Hopefully the supporters are the ones proven right this time around. Until then we can all speculate what the Bat-Suit will look like. Can't see a "tights" style as that was technically already done by Adam West in the 60's. Hoping for an Arkham Origins video game style personally.

Wonder Woman (Gal Gadot)
Another casting that had mixed reviews, most of which was directed at her size. But, if anyone has watched Zach Snyder's past films, should have zero worries on that subject. For the first time since Lynda Carter did in the mid 1970's, Wonder Woman is coming to us in live action form and it's about time! And here's hoping for a solo spin-off film if all goes well. Very curious as to what her wardrobe will look like. Classic style? Pants? Xena-like? A brand new, unique take on something?

Lex Luthor (Jesse Eisenberg)
With nothing but rumors and speculation since the casting of Batman and Wonder Woman, and with heavy assumptions on who should and will play Lex Luthor, with names like Bryan Cranston, Mark Strong, among others being passed around. The part was finally cast, and like those who proceeded him, Jessee Eisenberg has received some negative feed back. Also like the others, talented enough for most of us to take a wait and see approach.

Alfred Pennyworth (Jeremy Irons)
Along with Lex, it was announced that the role of Batman/Bruce Wayne's closest confidant Alfred Pennyworth has been cast. Haven't read nor heard anything negative feedback on this one, which is far from surprising. The world of the new Batman has improved even more.

It's hard to say exactly which characters will be added to this ever growing and ever talented cast. "Arrow" tv star Stephen Amell claims that the "Arrow" universe may be connected to this one. Of course, Marvel is using Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D. as part of their cinematic universe, so it's not far fetched. It would mean we know who Green Arrow, Arsenal, among others are, and with The Flash just finishing up his debut on the show, and set to get his own, we would know who the fourth member of Justice League is (possible title for M.O.S. follow-up). Plus, Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson is set to possibly join this universe also. One thing is for sure, DC Comics is at least making an effort to bring us their universe, personally liking what they are giving.

IT'S IN THE GENES

It may not always be genetics, but there is definitely a perk to being apart of a wrestling family. Since the end of the territory days, with the exception of Kerry Von Erich maybe, there hadn't really been a known to be next generation wrestler until The Rock in the late 90's being the WWE's first 3rd Generation Wrestler. Most but not were aware of the 2nd Generation stars like "Macho Man" Randy Savage, Jake "The Snake" Roberts, Bret "The Hitman" Hart amongst others.

The WWE currently has roughly 10+ next generation wrestlers working both the current main rosters as well as NXT. Some are part of their characters or announced every show like Cody Rhodes and Goldust being the 2nd Generation stars following in their legendary father, Dusty Rhodes footsteps. There is Curtis Axel (Joe Henning) who is currently following in The Rock's initial steps, using a combo of both his father (Rocky Johnson) and Grandfather (High Chief Peter Maivia) with Rocky Maivia. Then there is Roman Reigns of The Shield, who is in fact a third generation superstar in his own right being son of Afa (and is also brother of former WWE star Rosie, Super Hero In Training). Plus others, some of whom will be mentioned below.

Here are a list of some of the wrestling families, while I'll be sticking with the better known members, in most cases some of these bloodlines seem to produce nothing but wrestlers, who simply never made it to WWE, WCW or even TNA Wrestlings rosters over the years.

The Anoa'i/Maivia Family
Possibly the largest wrestling family there is, and a knack for giving us top performers over these years. Greats like High Chief Peter Maivia, Wild Samoans Afa and Sika, Yokozuna (yes non-hardcore fans he was actually Samoan), Rikishi (who's used many monikers), The Rock, Umaga, Rosie, and a bunch of others who've both made the top companies and haven't, yet wrestled elsewhere. Current stars from this family include Jimmy and Jey Uso (Rikishi's sons) and Leati Joseph Anoa'i better known as Roman Reigns.

The Hart Family
Canada's top or better known wrestling dynasties. With the Hart's every one of wrestler/promoter/trainer Stu Hart's sons wrestled and his each of his daughters married a wrestler. Best known would be Bret "The Hitman" Hart and his brother Owen Hart and their brother in-laws Jim "The Anvil" Neidhart and "British Bulldog" Davey Boy Smith (who is cousins with Dynamite Kid, who's ex-wife is Bret's ex-wifes sister). Of course there is a third generation with D.H. Smith (Harry Smith, son of Davey Boy Smith and Diana Hart), Teddy Hart (son of wrestler B.J. Annis and Georgia Hart, and Natalya Neidhart (Jim Neidhart and Ellie Hart) who recently married WWE star Tyson Kidd (TJ Wilson).

The Guerrero Family
They are Mexico's Dynasty to at least the mainstream media. Similar to the Hart Family, every one of Gory Guerrero's sons was a wrestler, even his wife, Herlinda Llanes came from a wrestling family. Best known is the late Eddie Guerrero and his wife current EXCUSE ME! star Vickie Guerrero. Also there's Hector Guerrero, Chavo Guerrero Sr (better known to current generation as Chavo Classic perhaps) and since I don't want to leave him out finally Mondo. Third generation star is Chavo Guerrero Jr who's been in WWE, WCW and TNA. Also there is Eddie and Vickie's daughter, Shaul Guerrero, working under the name Raquel Diaz on NXT. Guerrero Siempre!

The Windham-Rotunda Family
I was surprised by this at first, but then everything made sense. In this family it seems to be a case of genetics and upbringing. Wrestling legend Black Jack Mulligan (Robert Jack Mulligan) is the father of wrestling greats Barry Windham and Kendall Windham, but is also the step-father of another great, Mike Rotunda or I.R.S., Irwin R. Schyster. Rotunda is father of current WWE and NXT superstars, Windham Rotunda aka Bray Wyatt (he was known as Husky Harris during the "Nexus" days) and Bo Dallas (Taylor Rotunda).

The Poffo Family
Even though there isn't going to be a next generation star from this bloodline by the looks of it, they deserve mention, not just for level of greatness, but for the shock that I am sure I wasn't alone in feeling when I heard this bloodline. Angelo Poffo, Randy Poffo and Lanny Poffo. The late Angelo Poffo is the wrestling legend and father of the late and legendary "Macho Man" Randy Savage and his brother "The Genius". And of course we all know that Randy was once married (in real life) to the late Miss Elizabeth (Elizabeth Hulette). If never going to be an induction into WWE's Hall Of Fame, we would love to know the reason.

The Rhodes Family
"The American Dream" Dusty Rhodes (Virgil Runnels Jr.) is a legendary WWE Hall Of Famer, and is father of two future HOF inductees, Goldust/Dustin Rhodes (Dustin Runnels) and Cody Rhodes (Cody Runnels). Dustin really came into his own once he became Goldust, and is leading a small "Attitude Era" resurgence within the the WWE. And was of course once married to Marlena (Terri Runnels). Cody is so good he successfully "gimmicked" a protective mask and then a mustache. That takes skill. Also, Dusty Rhodes is the brother in-law of Nasty Boys member Jerry Sags (Jerome Saganovich) and Tugboat/Typhoon/Shockmaster (Fred Ottoman). Both of whom are also Cody's Uncle. Cody's Godfather is also wrestling great Magnum T.A. (Terry Allen).

The Flair Family
Perhaps Ric Flair was "too great" for his sons to succeed in wrestling. With David Flair, it could have been from being in WCW during the wrong era and/or not being in the WWE instead. With Naitch's other son, Reid Flair, it was a tragic case of a drug over-dose that is likely the cause for not getting to the level he was capable of reaching if not for his demons. There is a ray of light within the Flair Family (which is Fliehr in real life) with The Nature Boy's daughter Ashley Flair is on NXT using the name Charlotte (likely homage to Flair country Charlotte, NC) WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!

The Von Erich Family
Possibly the most tragic stories of all the wrestling families and in a business loaded with it. Wrestling great Fritz Von Erich (Jack Adkisson) had 6 sons; Jack Jr, Kevin, David, Kerry, Mike and Chris. Jack Jr passed at the age of 6, but the other Von Erich sons all followed their father into the business of pro wrestling. Tragically, only Kevin Von Erich is still alive, with his brothers all meeting untimely deaths at young ages. Kerry Von Erich was best known to WWE fans as the Texas Tornado back in the 90's, where he actually wrestled on a prosthetic leg, but took his own life at the age of  . There is a ray of hope in the Von Erich clan, while Kerry's daughter Lacey Von Erich was at one time wrestling in TNA, and Kevin has two sons currently breaking out in the business. Perhaps one day we will see The Claw return to the main stage at the hand of a Von Erich..

The Henning Family
The wrestling great, Larry "The Axe" Henning is father to the late, legendary "Mr. Perfect" Curt Henning. And of course put the names together and you get current WWE third generation superstar, Curtis Axel (Joe Henning). Curt's daughter Amy is also a wrestler apparently. An almost "perfect" wrestling family. Pun obvious. Pun intended.

The DiBiase Family
"The Million Dollar Man" Ted DiBiase Sr., was the son of Helen Nevins a female wrestler and her husband, his adoptive father, "Iron" Mike DiBiase. Tragically, Mike died from a heart attack during a match with "Mountain Man" Mike in July 1969. There is a thrid generation of DiBiase's in the wrestling business, with Ted DiBiase Jr having formerly been in WWE, and his two brothers Mike DiBiase II and Brett DiBiase although currently retired were also professional wrestlers.

The McMahon Family
We may not always like the product that they give us, or the desicions that they make at times, but we should all be thankful that this family has existed in professional wrestling. Beginning with boxing and wrestling promoter, Roderick McMahon. Followed by his son also a wrestling promoter, Vincent J. McMahon who gave us Vinnie Mac, Vince K. McMahon. Hard to put one label on Vince promoter, entrepreneur, wrestler list goes on. Even that applies to Vince and Linda's children, Shane McMahon who worked for the family company on all levels from office to ref to even wrestling as well, and same can be said for Stephanie McMahon-Levesque, who is married to WWE great Triple H (Paul Levesque) who is now doing what the McMahon's do behind the scenes also after a stellar and now part-time wrestling career.

The list of wrestling families is pretty extensive, with mine being the tip of a massive ice berg. Remember the little baby Ricky "The Dragon" Steamboat brought with him during Wrestlmania IV? For those unaware, that was his son and even he's in the business right now

A few others from the endless list of other 2nd and 3rd generation stars are;
  • Jake "The Snake" Roberts
  • Wes Brisco
  • Tamina Snuka
  • Deuce (Jimmy Snuka Jr.)
  •  "The Mountie" Jacques Rougeau
  • Ray Rougeau
  • "Road Dogg" Jesse James and referee brother Scott Armstrong
