Well, I guess I should start things off by trying to explain, in my opinion, the difference between "Geeks" and "Nerds". For those wondering WTF is a "Non-Geeky Nerd?"

I am a Nerd, and I like Geeks, they make MY world a better place aha There isn't all that much of a difference between the two really, the amount of common ground makes it hard to tell the difference at times, both can be socially awkward or fit perfectly into "normal" society, ok Geeks a tad more likely (what's "normal"? I have no clue aha). Both will dive deeper than others into comic books, movies and television then the average person. The difference is in "intelligence". To me Geeks are highly intelligent, sometimes off the chart brilliant (hence more likely to be socially awkward, hard to find others to relate). Now I am in no way saying Nerds are stupid. No, no. Far from it. Look at it like this, a Nerd will play or even design the video game, where a Geek made the system your playing it on.

Here is a list of "Celebs" or "Characters" who fall into "Geek" or "Nerd" territory imo.

GEEKS

  • Dr. Sheldon Cooper (Big Bang Theory)
  • Prof. Frink (The Simpson's)
  • Lewis Skolnick (Revenge Of The Nerds)
  • J.T. (Grandma's Boy)
  • Bill Gates

NERDS

  • Stuart the comic book store owner (Big Bang Theory)
  • Comic Book Guy (The Simpson's)
  • Dudley Dawson aka Booger (Revenge Of The Nerds)
  • Carl, Convenience Store Manager (Family Guy)
  • Seth Green

NERDS &GEEKS SOMETIMES MISTAKEN FOR JOCKS (or close to that)

  • Indiana Jones (Indiana Jones movies-obviously)
  • Tony Stark aka Iron Man
  • Dr. Hank McCoy aka Beast (X-Men)

I would say just compare "Star Trek" fans to "Star Wars" fans, the Trekkies (or is it Trekkers?Aha!) go as far as learning Klingon, Vulcan, etc., but then I remember that there are some Star Wars Fanboys who speak fluent Twi'lek aha! And I picture Geeks having the brain capacity to do this aha!

Did that help at all? Aha! Okay, perhaps "Booger" wasn't really a Nerd or a Geek, even though he did become a lawyer and did win at least one case. But compared to the rest of the guys in "Revenge Of The Nerds" he was the Nerd among Geeks. But, the others on the list are good examples I think.

In future blogs I hope to cover things such as new comics, new movies, pro wrestling, etc. Old movies for sure, as I tend to look for the positives in old disasters such as "Batman & Robin" (Bat-Nipples actually makes their debut in "Batman Forever" btw. Look at Kilmer's rubber suit at the beginning, among the more muscular looking rubber I see nips). Although I admit that I do this because Comic Book movies were so scarce back in the day that I found it better to enjoy what I liked instead of ranting over the negatives. But don't get me wrong, I can be quite negative at times, an A$$hole if you will aha!

Oh, and the blogs will tend to be DC Comics heavy as I feel they need my and all of your help to compete with Marvel. ESPECIALLY movie wise. That new Disney money will make Marvel's movies even more money. But, I will digress at a later date. I need focus on making sure I get my DC #1's that I want before the Money Makers try and scoop them all. So far, my plane is to definetly read "Batman" and "Detective Comics". But gonna pick up "Action Comics", "Superman", "The Flash" and "Green Lantern" to see where they are taking the titles, and if I like what I see, I'll continue to read and collect them. I also need to ask my daughter which titles she want to start reading and collecting (its her rookie year), I let her choose from the female titles like "Batgirl", "Batwoman", "Supergirl" and "Wonder Woman". More on why at another date, but I hope she picks "Gotham" titles, so I can read them too aha!

Till I ramble again (which I do A LOT.....on a computer aha!). Peace.
