"Warning! Reading a comic book may lead to addiction. Causing reader to buy multiple titles every month."
This should be posted on every comic book and inside every comic book shop ahaha But, seriously, I forgot how addicting they can be. It was easier and cheaper when I was younger as I read mainly X-Men titles (due to the lack of DC in my area), so I had a variety of characters to keep my hunger at bay. Nowadays, I am still focused on the Batman books, but the mind has expanded leading to me entering the Lantern titles. Red and Green respectively. It all started with Detective Comics and Batman being my must haves, which led to Batman & Robin and Batman: The Dark Knight. After recommending Red Lanterns to a friend, I ended up being a follower of the title, which has led to picking up Green Lantern, which I am now also adding to the list. I went from 2 titles up to 6, and very tempted to add titles such as Nightwing, Green Lantern Corps, and The Flash to my list.
Also, add that I pre-read Nerdy's titles before I let her read them, never know when there may be just that one frame that makes me as a father say, "Um, no." Yet to see one in her selection of Catwoman, Batgirl and now Batwoman. I prefer to teach her rather than shelter her. Plus, what is one gaurantee with female heroines? A man messes with them, the ladies come back and whoop that ass. Which is something I want my Nerdy to know and "apply" to her life when she is older. And with Barbara Gordon back as Batgirl, how inspiring is that? Not only for the ladies, but anyone. First loses the ability to walk through horrific actions, she comes back as The Oracle remaining a key component on the war on crime, and now regaining the ability to walk and is right back in the thick of things. I dunno, I find it inspirational.
Also, I picked up my copy of Green Lantern (the movie). Of course I got myself the "combo pack", which is the Blu-Ray, DVD and Digital Copy set. Main reason I got this, as it is my first Blu-Ray disc, is that now I can download Batman's Sinestro Corps skin for Batman: Arkham City which comes out next Tuesday, October 18th, which just happens to be my 30th birthday aha I am telling peeps that it is a sign, the video game, the batarang controller and Batman: Year One (Animated Movie) all come out on that day....my day.
As for the movie, Green Lantern, I am a fan. It is actually what made me even look at the comic book if I am being honest. I don't see why critics and fellow nerds didn't care for it. Storywise, being the first, was decent. Visually it was off the hook. And I for one cannot wait for a sequel, and pray they bring back everyone (not a fan of new actors taking over roles).
